These wonderful melons have a very distinctive, delicate sweet flavour when it is ripe. Piel de Sapo Melons are rich in vitamin A and C. The name, Piel de Sapo, is Spanish for "skin of a frog", a reference to its dark green roughly textured surface. But do not let this name keep you from trying out this juicy melon! Delicious when eaten right out of the rind or, for added flavour, try it with a sprinkle of ginger, salt or a squeeze of lemon or lime juice. These melons add sweetness to fruit salads and to refreshing drinks, such as fruit punches, margaritas or daiquiris.
